12/18/2023 0 Comments Can chromebook run microsoft officeThe same goes for the Android version of Colabora office. That's a minimum requirement because you don't want Microsoft users to have to convert documents all the time and Google file formats seem to be not a high priority for Microsoft. It turned out that OnlyOffice (the Android version as well as the Linux version installed in a container) are vastly superior if you like your application to look nice AND to be able to work on all OpenDocument flles. I totally dislike LibreOffice for its UI (it has the aesthetic impact of a year 2000 mainframe application on a 3270 terminal to me) and finally tested all that's out there. Chrome(OS) did not even recognize the MIME type. Yesterday I met the interesting challenge to open an OpenDocument Spreadsheet (.ods) file. Just buy a Windows notebook instead and live happily ever after. I've got Windows running in a VM inside a VM and it is performing a lot better than expected but getting it there is a lot of useless work (more than creating anew VM in crosh and botting the ISO image).
